“RK Logistics Group is expanding its Foreign-Trade Zone program across Silicon Valley, a move the company says could cut tariff-related costs for manufacturers by as much as 90 percent and give domestic producers an edge in a volatile global market.
A Foreign-Trade Zone, or FTZ, is a federally authorized site where imported goods can be stored, assembled or manufactured without paying customs duties until they enter U.S. commerce, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The expansion is aimed at helping Silicon Valley’s advanced manufacturers — from semiconductor equipment makers to battery and electrification companies — lower costs, stabilize supply chains and remain competitive against overseas rivals. Industry observers say such measures are becoming increasingly critical as tariff volatility and rising input costs squeeze margins for domestic producers.”
